Srinagar, July 8 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has cancelled the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination and recommended a CBI probe into the selection process.
The announcement was made by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday.
“JKP Sub-Inspector recruitment has been cancelled and a CBI probe has been recommended into the selection process. Culprits will be brought to justice soon. It’s a first big step towards securing future of our youth and the government will soon decide the future course of action for fresh recruitment,” his office tweeted.
On June 9, Sinha had ordered a probe in the recruitment of police sub inspectors over allegations of fraud.
After a provisional list for 1,200 posts of sub-inspectors was declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board on June 4, angry aspirants hit the streets. The protesters claimed at least siblings from 27 families have qualified the exam.
Nearly one lakh candidates had taken the examination.
After the protests, the government constituted a committee headed by the Home Secretary to probe the allegations.
