New Delhi: In absence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday held a high-level meeting to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, following a solitary militant-related incident in Kulgam.
Senior officials from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary forces briefed Shah on the current security landscape and the ongoing counter-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu Kashmir LG, DGP, and Chief Secreatry were part of the security meeting, however, the chief minister Omar Abdullah reportedly was not invited to the meeting.
The review comes a day after a militant attack in Kulgam district, where ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay was killed, and his wife and niece sustained injuries.
At the previous security review on December 19, 2024, Shah had directed security agencies to enhance coordination and vigilance to eradicate terrorism from the region. [KNT]
