Baramulla: The washrooms at Government Medical College Baramulla are in an utterly unhygienic condition, causing a huge inconvenience to the patients and attendants alike.
Several patients admitted at the hospital Tuesday, expressing their resentment told GNS that the unclean washrooms can lead to serious infections as, according to them the authorities concerned have failed to keep up with the cleanliness standards.
A local identifying himself as Sajad Ahmad Sofi told GNS that the hospital caters to hundreds of patients on a daily basis, however it lacks proper washrooms, resulting in inconvenience for patients and attendants as well.
“The foul smell emanating from the washrooms is highly irritating,” he said.
Another patient at the hospital identifying himself as Mohammad Shafi seconding the claims said that there sanitation standard at the hospital is quite poor.
He urged hospital administration to look into the issue as soon as possible. “If such things continue, it can lead to serious infection to the patients and attendants,” he said.
When contacted, a senior health official at the hospital told GNS that the matter would be looked into on a priority basis. “Strict action would be initiated against the officials who are not performing their duties properly”, the official said. (GNS)
