Srinagar/ Jammu and Kashmir civil society forum has taken a dig on Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited for the growing dissatisfaction over the diminishing public expectations. In a statement issued here, Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed anger over the Bank’s approach towards its customers viz government employees and the pensioners, statement Said that, thousands of employees are suffering because they stand guarantors to one or the other person for any kind of loan taken from the bank, as per the provisions of the bank rules a guarantors has to liquidate the loan to the bank when the loanee turns a defaulter, although, the rules set in the provisions of the bank secure the money of the bank but on the other hand it lands the guarantor into trouble badly which has resulted into a bad omen not only for social relations but even the blood relations too have got affected badly because of the flawed guarantee-system of the banks and the petitions are piled up in judiciary which is not a good sign for this society, Jammu and Kashmir bank in particular here, Forum Chairman said.
The statement further said that the trouble does not end here only with the employees of the bank from whose salary accounts the bank deducts the installments of the loans but even no good treatment is given to the pensioners who happen to be the elders and the senior citizens of the society, giving the latest example, Abdul Qayoom Wani said that during the past two months there are complaints in many cases where the Bank has deducted double installments within the single months from these pensioners thus rendering them empty pocketed. That remains the utmost trouble with these elderly pensioners who in most cases in these days of family- disintegration rely mainly on their pensions only.
Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has urged the JK Bank authorities to devise a strategy of money securing in case of loans based on mortgages rather than exploiting the social and blood relations by guarantee system. The Forum has asked the bank to relax the loan recovery parameters and make it customer friendly by always analyzing the ground situation of the circumstances. Forum has reminded the authorities that a bank can only prosper and progress when its customers are happy,
