Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said it has arrested two alleged supporters of the Saifullah group for reportedly providing logistical support and shelter to foreign terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.

According to police, as per GNS, the arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 03/2026 registered at Police Station Chatroo under Sections 61(2), 109, 147 and 148 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 13, 16, 18, 19 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Section 7/27 of the Arms Act.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, while sharing details of the operation, stated that “through meticulous investigation and precise operations, police apprehended Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Beighpora Singhpora in Kishtwar, who was directly implicated in facilitating the terrorists’ hideout.”

Police said the accused is employed as a teacher in the School Education Department and was allegedly involved in assisting foreign terrorists operating in the region.

Officials said another accused, identified as Maneer Ahmed of Bandeyan Naidgam, had earlier been arrested in connection with the same case for similar offences.

The SSP said the arrests have dealt a significant blow to the logistical support network of militants in the area, adding that further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others linked to the module.

Reiterating its stand against militancy, the police said it remains committed to a “zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and its supporters” and will continue intensified operations against individuals involved in aiding anti-national activities. (GNS)
