Kulgam, May 17, : Some farmers from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district while accusing a pesticide shop owner of selling sub-standard pesticides appealed government to cancel the license of the shop owner.
These farmers from Zeban Yaripora village of Kulgam told Reporters that the pesticides they purchased from a shop instead of controlling disease, developed more scab.
These farmers alleged that they are buying pesticides from a shop known as ‘Alfalah Pesticides’ in Kulgam. The shop according to them is owned by one Muhamamd Yousuf Naikoo alias Yousuf Zebayan, a resident of their own village.
These farmers as per news agency Kashmir News Trust claimed that recently they bought ‘Nativo’ high drug pesticide from the said shop but their apple orchards have developed more scab instead of controlling it.
Pertinently, Nativo is a new combination fungicide containing Tebuconazole and Trifloxystrobin. Nativo is a systemic broad-spectrum fungicide with protective and curative action which offers not only a disease control but also improves quality and yield of crop.
“This pesticide is very useful in controling scab but the pesticide we bought increased the scab in apples. We appeal District Administration to cancel the license of this shop owner and check the quality of the pesticides he is selling to farmers,” they said. (KNT)
