Srinagar: Chairman of the Jaffira Council Jammu and Kashmir, Haji Musadiq Hussain Manhas, paid heartfelt tribute to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, recalling his legacy and sacrifice. He also expressed deep sorrow over the reported killing of Iran’s senior security figure Ali Larijani in recent U.S.-Israeli airstrikes.

In a statement issued here, Haji Musadiq Hussain Manhas said that Ayatollah Khomeini, during his more than three decades of leadership, consistently raised his voice for the people of Palestine and stood firmly against oppression. He added that Khomeini was not only a leader for the Shia community but a symbol of unity and strength for the entire Muslim Ummah.

He urged Muslim and Arab nations to come together and take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions and stop the ongoing conflict. “Innocent lives are being lost every day. It is the responsibility of the global community, especially Muslim countries, to act before the situation worsens further,” he said.

Manhas further stated that Iran has always supported the cause of Palestine and continues to stand firmly for justice and the rights of the Palestinian people. He expressed pride in this consistent stance and called on others to show similar courage and commitment in raising their voices against injustice.

Appealing to the United Nations, Manhas called for urgent intervention to bring an end to the war. He warned that the conflict is not limited to one region but is impacting the entire world, leading to rising fuel prices, shortages of LPG gas and petrol, and increased economic pressure. “The poor and vulnerable sections of society are the worst affected, and immediate steps must be taken to prevent further suffering,” he added.

He also urged PM Narendra Modi to take swift measures for the safety of Indian citizens in the Middle East. He noted that over one crore Indians are working in the region, and many Kashmiri students are currently studying in Iran. He appealed for immediate arrangements to ensure their safe return to their homes before Eid-ul-Fitr so they can celebrate the festival with their families in peace and security.
