Second positive case in JK
Srinagar: The number of people enlisted for observation for the Coronavirus has gone up from 1433 to 1743 on Friday while more than 1100 are at home quarantine with health officials saying they were taking high precautions to contain the virus in J&K.
As per the media bulletin of J&K government, till Thursday, a total of 1433 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance including 1485 at home quarantine, 18 in hospital quarantine, and 81 at home surveillance.
“Till date a total of 159 have completed surveillance period. A total of 85 samples have been sent for testing of which 77 are negative while the report of 06 is awaited,” it said.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) Wednesday declared the coronavirus pandemic and expressed deep concern about the “alarming levels of inaction” in the fight against the spread of the disease.
According to the WHO, a pandemic is declared when a new disease for which people do not have immunity spreads around the world beyond expectations. (JKNS)
Government refutes rumors over 4G restoration in JK
Srinagar, March 13: The J&K government on Friday refuted rumors of 4G internet restoration in Kashmir and termed the media reported as baseless and fabricated.
Principal Secretary Planning and Government Spokesperson Rohit Kansal said they he has not made any such statement.
“I have clarified it. I did not make any such statement. It is absolutely false (the reports of 4G restoration),” Kansal said.
Earlier, reports attributing Kansal were circulated on social media channels claiming the government was planning to restore high-speed mobile internet in Kashmir by Friday evening considering the ongoing Coronavirus scare.
He said reports that HI- Speed internet to be restored in J&K today evening. “Strong denied. I have not spoken to anyone on this issue.(JKNS)
