Srinagar May 21 : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Friday paid tributes to former Prime of India Late Rajiv Gandhi on his 30th death anniversary and recalled his selfless services and sacrifices towards nation building.
The party as per a statement issued, also extolled former Prime Minister for working tirelessly to make India an emerging power during his tenure as Prime Minister of the India, who was also credited for starting an era of technology and development in the country, besides taking many important measures for empower of every of people living in the country.
Pertinently, Congress party had decided to observe martyrdom of Rajiv Gandhi by organizing mass distribution of medical kits, food items, masks, etc among needy people on this day cross the country, which was followed by the rank and file of the JKPCC leaders and workers with great enthusiasm in their respective districts across J&K, who also provided assistance to Covid patients and other deserving poor people.
JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 30th death anniversary on Friday and said the sacrifices of illustrious son of India (Rajiv Ji) shall always be remembered, leading the countrymen at the path of peace & progress.
Bharat Ratna Rajiv was a visionary, a man of commitment, who did his utmost to make India as a fast developing country in the world by taking various significant measures with regard to its inclusive development, besides people’s empowerment at grass root level was on top of his agenda, Mir added, citing various other significant measures that were taken by Former PM, especially three tire panchayat Raj System through which the devolution of power at grassroots was ensured, which benefitted people directly, proving it a revolutionary in the development of country especially rural India.
Rajiv Gandhi’s great contribution to India’s growth, IT and telecom revolution, besides pioneering National education policy to expand higher education program across the country, besides lowering the voting age of youth from 21 to 18 years were among the major achievements of the Former Prime Minister, who due to his vision was considered as an inspirational personality by the world powers and pioneer of modern India.
“Rajiv was symbol of compassion, and truth shall always be missed by all Indians, who laid down his life for the country, Nation has lost a towering personality in the martyrdom of Rajiv Gandhi, a great loss, which cannot be replaced by anything,” Mir regretted.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former legislators Muhammad Amin Bhat today paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary.
The former PM was a man of development, who always remained concerned for empowerment of people at grass roots level, ensuring that every section of the country enjoyed the fruits of development, besides he worked tirelessly for empowering deprived sections living in the country.
Rajiv lowered the voting rights of youth from 21 to 18, which was a remarkable decision, besides bringing IT revolution in the country, Bhat said and described the departed leader as a visionary and an icon of peace, harmony and development.
JKPCC General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi and various other leaders distributed food items among the poor people as a mark of respect to Former PM Raji Gandhi, who attained martyrdom on this day.
Channi said Rajiv was a liberal and a man of development, who left no stone unturned to empower people at grassroots—(KNO)
