Shopian resumes normal life after Zubair declares joining militant ranks

SRINAGAR: After five days of shutdown against the disappearance of a youth from police custody, Shopian district resumes normal life today.

All business establishments were opened in the town. The market witnesses’ huge rush of shoppers besides vehicular movement.

The disappeared youth, Zubai Ahmad Turray releases a video tape, declaring his joining in militant ranks. Zubair in the video tape cites reasons of slavery and highhandedness of forces for his joining the militant outfit Hizbul Mujahedin.

Pertinently, Zubair was arrested in 2014 on stone pelting charges and was slapped with PSA. With continuous shutdown in the area to know about the whereabouts, police maintained that Zubair escaped from police station Keegam on May 1.
