Lok Sabha Election Phrase II: Security heightened in Central Kashmir

SRINAGAR, APR 14 (PTK): The administration has made strong arrangements of security in Srinagar parliamentary constituency ahead of second phrase of Lok Sabha elections.

Sources said that strong deployments of government forces have been made in different places which security agencies have identified as “sensitive and hypersensitive areas” days before the poll-day in order to make polls violence free.

Naka’s ( checkpoints ) have been made in different areas of Srinagar and Budgam and barricades have been put on roads at different places. Frisking of vehicles has been intensified and vehicles are being checked in multiple areas.

Temporary camps of security forces have been made in different parts of central Kashmir ahead of polls. Forces have been deployed in many government buildings mostly government schools.

Sources said that these security arrangements have been made to conduct second phrase of polling that is going to be held on April 18 in Srinagar constituency of Kashmir valley smoothly.

In the first phrase of Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, 35 percent of people voted in Baramulla parliamentary constituency. In the constituency, the highest poll percentage was recorded in Kupwara district at over 51 percent, followed by Bandipora (over 32 percent) and Baramulla (over 22 percent).

Despite incidents of violence were reported from different places that left a class 7 student from Langate dead, polling was smoothly held. (PTK)
