IED Recovered In Shopian Village, Defused By Bomb Disposal Squad

Shopian, Sep 20 : Security forces recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Awneera area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, officials said.They told GNS that during a routine search operation, a suspicious object was spotted on roadside at Awneera Shopian, which later turned out to be an IED. Soon after the detection, the area was cordoned off and movement of people was restricted as a precautionary measure.Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately rushed to the spot along with police and other security forces. The BDS team later defused the IED safely without causing any damage.Senior police officer confirmed the recovery and defusal of the IED and said further investigation has been taken up.(GNS)
