Shopian, Oct 4: Joint Forces launched a cordon and search operation in the main town of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday evening.
Soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Police and men from 14 Battalion CRPF cordoned off Sheikh Mohalla after receiving inputs about the movement of militants in the area.
Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the area has been blocked and a door-to-door search operation is underway.
The search operation was going on till the filing of this report.
Pertinently, in Buskuchan village of the same district a militant Naseer Ahmed Bhat was killed recently in an encounter. (KNT)
