Srinagar : With the death of five more patients, who were tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, the death toll in J&K has crossed 2,000 mark and among them over 63 percent have been reported from Kashmir alone.
As per the data available, out of 2,003 total Covid deaths in J&K, 1265 are from Kashmir division which is 63.15 percent of the total death.
“Out of 1,265 deaths from Kashmir, 473 are alone were from Srinagar which is 37.39 percent of the total deaths in Kashmir division,” the figures reveal, adding that “Out of 738 deaths in Jammu division, 381 are from Jammu district only which is 51.6 percent deaths in the division.”
The figures stated that in Kashmir division, Shopian with 40 and in Jammu division, Reasi with 16 have lowest deaths in their respective divisions.
“Baramulla and Budgam district have 181 and 120 deaths respectively while as rest of the districts in both division have below 100 deaths,” the figures reveal.
On March 26, last year, a male patient from Srinagar with travel history and other Comorbidities became the first victim of Covid-19 in J&K. Notably, on 13 January this year, first time after seven months there was no death due to covid-19 in J&K, however, due to a surge in cases, Covid related deaths have also started to increase—(KNO)
