COVID-19: Eight more people die; 565 test positive in J&K

Total cases 108,871, tally of deaths soars to 1,676 deaths; recovery rate over 93 percent in UT

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded eight fresh deaths due to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 1,676 in the Union Territory while 565 positive cases were reported taking the tally of positive cases to 108,871 in J&K.

Of the exact number of 108,3871 cases, 65,223 are from Kashmir and 43,648 from Jammu division. Officials told that among 565 new cases, 232 belong to Kashmir division while as 305 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 65,223 including 61,042 recoveries and 1,097 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 43,648 including 40,917 recoveries and 579 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,236 including 3,084 from Kashmir division and 2,152 from Jammu division.

With 596 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 101,959, which is 93.65 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 110 from Srinagar, 29 from Baramulla, 27 from Budgam, 15 from Pulwama,   19 from Kupwara, 05 from Anantnag, 07 from Bandipora, 21 from Ganderbal, 03 from Kulgam and 19 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 232 from Jammu division include 111 from Jammu, 05 from Rajouri, 28 from Udhampur, 19 from Doda, 25 from Kathua, 01 from Poonch, 12 from Samba, 15 from Kishtwar, 07 from Ramban and 09 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24 hours eight persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died, among them three belong to Kashmir division and five to Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include one each from Srinagar, Budgam and Anantnag in Kashmir division and two each from Jammu and Doda and one from Udhampur in Jammu division.

As per officials figures, 22,796 positive cases including 416 deaths and 21,141 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,380 including 161 deaths and 6,831 recoveries are from Baramulla, 6,827 including 6,441 recoveries and 100 deaths are from Budgam, 5,057 including 4,815 recoveries and 86 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,162 including 82 deaths and 4,656 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,527 including 4,326 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,383 cases including 4,197 and 50 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,163 including 3,924 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,590 including 2,488 recoveries and 50 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,338 including 2,223 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 20,345 including 19,424 recoveries and 296 deaths are from Jammu district, 3,413 including 3,266 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,482 including 2,993 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,066 including 2,771 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Doda, 2,748 including 2,622 recoveries and 36 deaths are from Kathua, 2,387 including 2,301 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Poonch, 2,430 including 2,239 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Samba, 2,435 including 2,169 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Kishtwar, 1,894 including 1,770 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Ramban and 1,448 including 1,362 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 772,712 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 20,275 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 5,236 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 712,093 persons have completed surveillance period and 43,432 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 2,940,302 samples are available.

Out of 2,940,302 the number of samples tested negative stands at 2,831,431 while as 108,871 have tested positive, among them 5,236 persons are active, 101,959 persons have recovered and 1,676 persons have died(KNO)
