BJP stages walkout over statehood resolution

Srinagar, Sep 29 : BJP legislators walked out of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday to protest the Speaker’s decision to allow discussion on the statehood resolution.The BJP, per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), accused the Speaker of allowing the statehood resolution despite its objections to references to the 2000 autonomy resolution and the 2024 special status resolution.The walkout came after Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma again raised the issue in the House and sought the Speaker’s removal.The statehood resolution, moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was passed on Monday amid protests by BJP members. —(KNO)
