Baramulla: Seven persons were injured after a Tavera vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Baba Reshi Mode in the Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
Officials said the accident occurred when the Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK02AG-3981 reportedly lost control near the roadside bend and fell into a gorge, leaving several occupants injured.
The injured were identified as Muhammad Akbar Wani, Ghulam Ahmad Aashie, Muhammad Omar Ganie and Ikraf Ahmad Wani, all residents of Danas in Tangmarg; Ghulam Mohidin Bhat of Larkipora; and Sharik Fayaz and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, residents of Watrwani and Watrusu in Budgam district, respectively.
All the injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Tangmarg for treatment, where their condition was being ascertained at the time of filing this report.
Police, under the supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) Tangmarg, rushed to the spot soon after the accident and carried out a rescue operation with the assistance of locals.
The accident briefly triggered panic in the area, while authorities initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that led to the vehicle skidding off the road. [KNT]
