SRINAGAR : The Secretary general of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Nahida Nasreen on Thursday strongly denounced the extension in the house arrest of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed by the government of Pakistan.

In a statement issued here, Nasreen said, “At a time when the occupational Indian forces have unleashed a wave of suppression across Kashmir and across genders and ages and the people of Kashmir have stood firm in their resolve, Pakistan was duty bound to rise above the customary statements and condemnations and take concrete steps for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. However, unfortunately, instead of doing so, the government of Pakistan is arresting the well wishers of the people of Kashmir and freedom movement.”

Nasreen said that Saeed created a mass awareness about the Kashmir issue across the length and breadth of Pakistan. “It was Saeed who by raising the slogans of ‘Nazria-e-Pakistan Hi Baqai-e-Pakistan Hai’ reached out to the Ulema and people from different sections of the Pakistan society and created awareness among them viz-a-viz Kashmir and united them on a single platform.”

She said that at a time when the situation in Kashmir is worst than those of 90’s, it becomes binding for the Prime Minster of Pakistan that he rises above his personnel interests and gives preference to Pakistan’s and Ummat’s interests. “Sharief should immediately release Hafiz Saeed without succumbing to the pressure of Indian stooges.”

Hailing Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, the chairman of Bar Association for successfully pleading the case against pellet guns in the Supreme Court of India, Nasreen said that Qayoom’s name would be engraved in the history books for highlighting the atrocities committed by Indian forces in Kashmir.

“The way Qayoom pleaded the case and trashed the Indian argument is highly appreciable and the people of Kashmir stand with Qayoom,” Nasreen said.

Meanwhile, Nasreen also strongly condemned the puppet regime’s decision in extending the remand of DeM chairperson Syedah Aasiyah Andrabi and her personnel secretary Fehmeeda Sofi till May 8.

She said that Andrabi was not produced before the court of law and was verbally informed that her remand has been extended.

She said the health condition of Andrabi has deteriorated and she has not been provided with the necessary medical care.

She warned that if Andrabi, her personal secretary and all other prisoners including students are not released forthwith, it will have telling consequences.
