Budgam: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the administration not to target innocent government employees, while addressing a public convention organized under the banner of the “Nasha Mukta Abhiyan” in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Addressing party workers and supporters during the rally in Budgam, Mehbooba Mufti said administrative action should remain fair and transparent and should not affect employees who were not involved in wrongdoing.
She urged the administration to exercise caution while taking disciplinary or investigative measures and said innocent individuals should not face harassment or pressure.
During her address, the former chief minister also launched criticism against the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, alleging that several public concerns remained unresolved despite expectations of administrative improvement.
Mehbooba claimed that the present government had failed to adequately respond to issues affecting ordinary people and accused it of not delivering effective governance on the ground.
Without referring to any specific administrative decision, she said the people of Jammu and Kashmir were expecting accountability, transparency and relief from the elected government.
“The people are expecting accountability and transparency from the government,” she said during the convention.
The PDP president also emphasized the importance of democratic participation and public engagement, saying that voices from different sections of society must be heard and respected.
She said democratic institutions and political leadership should remain accessible to the public and responsive to grievances being raised by citizens.
The former chief minister repeatedly criticized both the administration and ruling political leadership on issues related to governance, employment, public welfare and democratic participation in recent months. [KNT]
