Kargil: A massive procession and public gathering were organised in Kargil on Wednesday in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the system of Wilayat-e-Faqih, and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah al-Uzma Syed Ali Khamenei. The programme was held under the banner of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) after Zuhr prayers.
According to details, following a call by IKMT, a large procession emerged from Jamia Masjid Kargil, with thousands of men, women, religious scholars, and members of various social and religious organizations participating. The participants carried portraits of the Supreme Leader and placards expressing solidarity with the people of Iran, support for the Islamic system, and condemnation of the policies of the United States and Israel.
The procession passed through the main market area and concluded near the Old Taxi Stand, where a formal public meeting was held.
Meanwhile, a separate women’s procession organized by the Zainabia Women Welfare Society marched from Fatima Chowk and later merged with the main gathering.
Throughout the route, participants according to the news agency Kashmir News Trust, raised slogans in support of the Supreme Leader and the Islamic system, while also voicing strong opposition to the United States and Israel. At the beginning of the procession, symbolic coffins representing the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister were also dragged as part of the protest.
Addressing the gathering, Haji Asghar Ali Karbalai said that the people of Kargil have always stood firmly with the Islamic system and are ready to make every sacrifice for its defence. He described the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution as a source of hope for oppressed people across the world. Referring to recent unrest in Iran, he alleged that the United States and Israel, through their agents, had damaged mosques, imambaras, libraries, and other public properties. He asserted that the Islamic Republic of Iran holds immense sanctity and that any threat to it would endanger holy places worldwide.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Sadiq Rajai, in his address, praised the political insight and courage of the Supreme Leader, stating that all conspiracies by hostile forces had failed due to his leadership.
At the conclusion of the programme, symbolic effigies and coffins of the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister were set on fire, after which the demonstration ended peacefully.
Participants reiterated their resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Supreme Leader and the Islamic system at all times.
Adequate security arrangements were in place, with Ladakh Police personnel deployed to ensure a peaceful conclusion of the procession. Basij volunteers were also seen actively assisting in maintaining discipline and order during the procession and the public gathering. [KNT]
