SRINAGAR : Life remained crippled in Shopian district of south Kashmir due the killing of a youth allegedly in security force firing on demonstrators, who were trying to disrupt the anti-militancy operation on the evening of June 6.
However, there was no restriction in any part of the district today. Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in the main town and adjoining areas for the second day today.
Work in government offices and banks also remained affected due to the strike. The district administration has already ordered suspension of class work in Government Degree Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools (HSSs) in the district, as a precautionary measure.
