First time in J&K translation diploma courses will be started in any university, local youth will get employment
The Central University of Jammu will start to offer post graduate Diploma and Certificate courses in Translation in Hindi-English and Vice-versa from the next academic session of 2021. The Head of the Hindi Department, Prof. Rasal Singh said that Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the university, has approved and registrar has notified the translation Courses in Hindi-English and Vice-versa. It will be First time in J&K that translation diploma and Certificate courses will be started in any university. There will be unlimited jobs for the translators after the passing of JK official languages act-2020. Local youth will get enormous employment opportunities by this skill oriented course. 50 seats have been kept for this course.
Prof. Rasal Singh, Dean Studens’ Welfare further said that the students with Bachelor degrees will be able to apply for these courses.”Students will not have to go outside the state for doing translation courses now”, Said Prof. Rasal Singh. Students will be charged 8000 Rupees fee for Diploma in translation and 5000 rupees for Certificate.
While elaborating the details of the courses Prof. Singh Said that the students after passing the first semester will get certificate and will get Diploma after passing the Second semester.The application process will start with the CUCET itself. The mode of Entrance will depend on circumstances. In the current circumstances, it will be online only. Admissions can also be taken on the basis of merit of graduation result and online interaction instead of entrance. The online entrance / graduation merit and interaction ratio will be 70:30.If there is an entrance, it will be related to knowledge of Hindi and English language knowledge, general knowledge and current affairs. This is a regular course, but in the current circumstances, classes will be online like other courses.
The course is in tune with the National Education Policy-2020 which focuses on skill enhancement of youth and multiple exits.
He further said department plans to start translation courses in other Indian languages ie Dogri, Kashmiri, Panjabi, Urdu etc.
