Covid claims two more lives, 77 more test positive in J&K

Tally reaches 127,191; death toll at 1965, Active cases around 900 in J&K, recovery rate 98 percent

Srinagar, Mar 09 : Covid-19 on Tuesday claimed two more lives in Jammu and Kashmir taking the toll of deaths related to Covid-19 to 1,965 while as 77 fresh positive cases were reported taking tally of positive cases to 127,191.

Of the exact number of 127,191 cases, 75,061 are from Kashmir and 52,130 from Jammu division. Officials told the that among 77 new cases, 60 belong to Kashmir division while as 17 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 75,061 including 73,141 recoveries and 1,236 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 52,139 including 51,226 recoveries and 729 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 859 including 684 from Kashmir division and 175 from Jammu division.

With 87 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 124,367 which is 97.78 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 36 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 09 from Budgam, 01 from Pulwama, 00 from Kupwara, 04 from Anantnag, 00 from Bandipora, 00 from Ganderbal, 00 from Kulgam and 00 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 17 from Jammu division include 13 from Jammu, 00 from Udhampur, 01 from Rajouri, 01 from Doda, 02 from Kathua, 00 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 00 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 27,359 positive cases including 462 deaths and 26,502 recoveries are from Srinagar, 8,343 including 175 deaths and 8,085 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,940 including 7,767 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Budgam, 5,893 including 5,761 recoveries and 91 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,701 including 97 deaths and 5,591 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,066 including 4,942 recoveries and 88 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,722 cases including 4,647 and 62 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,680 including 4,619 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,743 including 2,673 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,614 including 2,554 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 25,337 including 24,819 recoveries and 377 deaths are from Jammu district, 4,319 including 4,256 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,877 including 3,821 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,439 including 3,374 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,268 including 3,207 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 2,841 including 2,794 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Samba, 2,738 including 2,715 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,527 including 2,496 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Poonch, 2,135 including 2,114 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ramban and 1,649 including 1,630 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,362,665 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 31,836 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 859 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,210,455 persons have completed surveillance period and 117,550 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 5,436,662 samples are available.

Out of 5,436,662 the number of samples tested negative stands at 5,309,471 while as 127,191 have tested positive, among them 859 persons are active, 124,367 persons have recovered and 1,965 persons have died—(KNO)
