COVID claims two more lives, 608 test positive in J&K

Total cases 105,984, tally of deaths soars to 1,624 deaths; recovery rate over 93 percent in UT

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded two deaths due to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 1,624 in the Union Territory while 608 positive cases were reported taking the tally of positive cases to 105,984 in J&K.

Of the exact number of 105,984 cases, 63,871 are from Kashmir and 42,133 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 608 new cases, 297 belong to Kashmir division while as 311 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 63,871 including 58,971 recoveries and 1,073 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 42,113 including 39,669 recoveries and 551 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,720 including 3,827 from Kashmir division and 1,893 from Jammu division.

With 564 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 98,640, which is 93.07 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 124 from Srinagar, 40 from Baramulla, 47 from Budgam, 21 from Pulwama,   16 from Kupwara, 12 from Anantnag,  16 from Bandipora, 16 from Ganderbal, 01 from Kulgam and 04 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 311 from Jammu division include 115 from Jammu, 08 from Rajouri, 68 from Udhampur, 28 from Doda, 14 from Kathua, 03 from Poonch, 13 from Samba, 35 from Kishtwar, 23 from Ramban and 04 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24 hours two persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died, among them one belongs to Kashmir division and one to Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include one from Bandipora in Kashmir division and one from Udhampur in Jammu division.

As per officials figures, 22,243  positive cases including 402 deaths and 20,310 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,191 including 159 deaths and 6,464 recoveries are from Baramulla, 6,677 including 6,291 recoveries and 98 deaths are from Budgam, 4,962 including 4,716 recoveries and 86 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,027 including 80 deaths and 4,444 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,495 including 4,229 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,333 cases including 4,095 and 50 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,076 including 3,785 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,570 including 2,445 recoveries and 48 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,297 including 2,192 recoveries and 36 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 19,625 including 18,748 recoveries and 287 deaths are from Jammu district, 3,357 including 3,220 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,258 including 2,857 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Udhampur, 2,918 including 2,699 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Doda, 2,677 including 2,556 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Kathua, 2,367 including 2,274 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Poonch, 2,353 including 2,164 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Samba, 2,322 including  2,136 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Kishtwar, 1,826 including 1,660 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Ramban and 1,410 including 1,345 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 760,258 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 19,506 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 5,720 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 686,310 persons have completed surveillance period and 47,098 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 2,783,244 samples are available.

Out of 2,783,244 the number of samples tested negative stands at 2,677,260 while as 105,984 have tested positive, among them 5,720 persons are active, 98,640 persons have recovered and 1,624 persons have died(KNO)
