Says public mood turning against ruling party, predicts PC’s ‘clean sweep’ in Handwara

Handwara, Oct 31 : People’s Conference (PC) president and MLA Sajad Gani Lone on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC), claiming that if people were given an opportunity to express their views today, they would vote the ruling party out of government.

Commenting on reports surrounding MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and his decision to leave the National Conference, MLA Lone, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the matter was entirely internal to the party and that the People’s Conference had nothing to do with it.

“We have nothing to do with that. Who is leaving and who is not is their internal issue,” he said.

Lone, however, maintained that the public mood was against the ruling party, claiming that people would give their verdict against the NC if they were asked to express their opinion today.

“If people are being asked to express their views today, they will definitely vote them out of the government,” Lone said.

The MLA Handwara accused the NC of failing to deliver on several promises made to the people, particularly those concerning electricity tariffs, free ration and gas cylinders.

“The people were now assessing the government on the basis of its performance and promises,” he said, claiming that the assurances made ahead of the elections had not been fulfilled.

Lone further said that people had themselves witnessed what he described as a false narrative propagated against the People’s Conference.

“People have seen for themselves that whatever was being told about the People’s Conference were lies,” he said, asserting that a new phase focused on development was ahead.

Expressing confidence over his party’s electoral prospects, Sajad Lone said the Peoples Conference would emerge strongly in the upcoming elections. He further claimed that the party was heading towards a “clean sweep” in the district.

“The coming elections would reflect the changing public mood,” Lone said, expressing confidence that the people would support the People’s Conference and its development agenda—(KNO)
