Srinagar : A concrete structure whose owner was paid compensation by the authorities has become a major hurdle in the road widening project in Anantnag.

An official told that a single storey of three shops came in the way of BL Katu to Sirhama road widening project six years ago. The owner, according to him, was paid partial payment amounting to Rs 3.26 lakh in 2017 as compensation for demolishing the shops. But five years on, the building stands as it was.

The official said they have shot several notices to demolish the structure to no avail.

“You are hereby instructed once again to demolish the structure within 3 days positively, otherwise the action under rules shall be initiated against you and the cost of dismantling the structure shall be recovered from you,” said one such notice served to the owner in September this year.

A district administration official told KNO that currently they are busy with Back to village phase 4 and will initiate action as per law against him—(KNO)
