Srinagar, Sep 12 : National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has rejected the remarks made by cabinet colleague Sakina Itoo regarding Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s poll prospects, saying such statements “couldn’t have been” made in the right perspective.Ruhullah, as per GNS, reacting to Itoo’s comments, said that his stand on issues concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir remains principled and not driven by electoral calculations. The Srinagar MP said he has always stood for the genuine aspirations and rights of the people and will continue to do so irrespective of poll bids or political fallouts. It may be recalled that Health and Education Minister Sakina Itoo had earlier dismissed Ruhullah’s protest outside CM’s residence as a “cheap publicity stunt” and had defended the government led by Omar Abdullah. The remarks had pointed to widening rift within the National Conference over various issues including reservation policy and party’s approach towards public grievances.Ruhullah’s latest reaction is seen as another episode of the ongoing tiff between the NC MP and a section of party leadership.(GNS)
