Young cyclist joins thousands at ‘Pedal Through Paradise’, driven by passion for the sport
Srinagar, Oct 29 : While much of Srinagar was still asleep, 12-year-old Mohammad Qasim Mir was already awake at 4 am, eager to head to Dal Lake for the cycling event ‘Pedal Through Paradise’.
Among the thousands who participated in the event, Qasim, a resident of Bagh-e-Mehtab, stood out as an example of how a passion for fitness and sports can take root at a young age.
His father, Mir Murtaza, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Qasim was determined not to miss the event.
“We have all been awake since 4 am because my son would not let us sleep. He was so excited,” Murtaza said.
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the cycling event brought together participants from different age groups to promote physical fitness, cycling and healthy lifestyles.
Murtaza said it was Qasim’s first experience of participating in such an event and that he has a keen interest in cycling and other sporting activities.
“He loves racing and taking part in these activities. He was very excited,” he said.
Qasim said he thoroughly enjoyed the ride and was happy to be part of the event.
Accompanied by his parents, the young cyclist braved the chilly morning and joined thousands of participants along the banks of Dal Lake, turning his enthusiasm for cycling into a memorable experience—(KNO)
