Srinagar, Sep 25, : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to move a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking the immediate and urgent restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.According to a supplementary list of business issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the resolution calls upon the Government of India to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest.The proposed resolution refers to earlier resolutions passed by the House on June 26, 2000, and November 6, 2024, and calls for the fresh resolution to be forwarded to the Government of India.The move comes during the ongoing autumn session of the Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled to continue through September 30. The Assembly’s official eVidhan portal lists September 25 as a sitting day of the current session.The November 6, 2024 resolution had called for dialogue with elected representatives of Jammu and Kashmir for restoration of special status and constitutional guarantees. It was moved by then Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and passed amid protests by BJP members.The fresh resolution, if moved and adopted, would constitute a separate Assembly resolution specifically focused on restoration of full statehood.
