Weather to remain dry in J&K over next 10 days, predicts MeT

Temperatures remain above normal; Srinagar records 33.2°C, Jammu 34.3°C

Srinagar, Sep 11 : Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Friday said that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience mainly dry weather over the next 10 days, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers expected at isolated and scattered places.The MeT, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the weather across the Union Territory is likely to remain generally dry on September 12 and 13, although brief spells of rain may occur at isolated places.From September 14 to 16, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and forenoon hours, it said.The weather is expected to remain generally dry again from September 17 to 21, with a possibility of brief rain at isolated places.The advisory issued by the department said farmers may continue harvesting apples and paddy along with other agricultural operations.Meanwhile, temperatures remained above normal at several places in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 16.4 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees above normal.Qazigund recorded a maximum of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.5 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded 27.8 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.In North Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a maximum of 32.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.4 degrees Celsius.Kokernag recorded a maximum of 30.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded 24 degrees Celsius as the maximum and 10.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum.Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal, while the minimum was 25.4 degrees Celsius.Among other stations, Banihal recorded a maximum of 28.6 degrees Celsius, Batote 27.7 degrees Celsius, Katra 31 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 29.9 degrees Celsius.No significant rainfall was recorded across the listed stations during the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Friday, the weather department said—(KNO)
