Water shortage triggers protest in Budgam village 

Budgam : Chattabugh village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam has been facing an acute shortage of potable water.

The villagers on Saturday staged a protest urging the concerned department to ensure water supply to them. They said people are being forced to fetch water in carts from different places, even in this holy month of Ramadhan.

“This village has been facing a water shortage problem for many years. Nobody listens to us, despite repeatedly knocking at the doors of PHE officials,”

The locals said that last water many villagers were hit by the water-borne disease. They said they are being forced to consume contaminated water sometimes.

   “Through your medium, we request LG Manoj Sinha to direct the PHE department to ensure regular water supply to Chattabugh village,” the villagers said. [KNT]
