Srinagar, Feb 20 : Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) in collaboration with State Judicial Academy and International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, New Delhi conducted online Sensitisation workshop of officials of Judiciary of Jammu and Kashmir regarding effective implementation of Tobacco Control laws.
According to a statement, Rajeev Gupta, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice with additional charge as Director State Judicial Academy, J&K graced the workshop as Chief guest.
Dr Rana Jugdeep Singh, Deputy Director, Tobacco Control was the guest of Honour.
Various speakers and resource persons gave overview of the Tobacco control laws and Role of Judiciary in implementing the same.
Nodal Officer, NTCP, Kashmir Dr Naheed Anjum Malik gave a detailed overview of the National Tobacco Control Programme. Parveen Sinha from WHO India office, New Delhi briefed the participants about Burden of Tobacco epidemic at National and Subnational level.
Other speakers on the occasion were Ranjit, Legal Expert, Tobacco Control and Amit Yadav, senior technical Advisor, international Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
The workshop ended with vote of thanks by State Coordinator, Tobacco Control, J&K, Dr Muhammad Naser—(KNO)
