Budgam, November 18: Realizing the importance of addressing mental health early, JK Centre for Peace and Justice Foundation (JKCPJ) organized a session at Babul Ilem Public Higher Secondary school, Budgam. JKCPJ encourages students to learn about mental health, address the issue at earliest and play an important role towards overall community health.

In this regard team JKCPJ visited the school and organized a session and enlightened students to learn early signs, ask for help if needed and address the issues related. JKCPJ mental health counselor, Syed Manaal Andrabi while interacting with students discussed the importance of voicing one’s concerns and asking for help when need be, without feeling guilt or shame with regards to one’s mental health. She advised students how it’s of utmost importance to locate one’s problematic behavior traits and seek proper help if one’s daily life is impaired by one’s subconscious actions.

The students also participated in a recreational activity session to refresh their minds and body and keep them motivated. The program was followed by a Question-Answer Session in which students actively participated, highlighted their problems, and sought solutions from JKCPJ mental health experts.
Director JKCPJ Mr Nadir Ali while addressing the session highlighted the importance of mental health and what encouraged them to kick start mental health initiatives in Schools. He thanked the Chairman and Principle of Babul Ilem Public Higher Secondary School for the cooperation and commitment and making this program successful.
JKCPJ’s Mental Health Programme in Schools is a major breakthrough in highlighting and eliminating a major issue among students. The program will play an important role in positive development of students and the overall community. It is worth mentioning here that the JK Centre for Peace and Justice Foundation (JKCPJ) has started a mental health awareness project in Kashmir to raise awareness among the students regarding mental health and issues related to it.
