Students clashes with police in Lalchowk

SRINAGAR: Students from different schools and colleges today assembled near Maulana Azad road in Lalchowk Srinagar and pelted stones on passing government vehicles.

The stone pelting affected the vehicular movement on the Maulana Azad road for sometime. The stone throwing students also clashes with the security forces who arrived at the spot. However, the stone pelting students were quickly responded by the police by chasing away.

Pertinently, Students are protesting and clashing with security forces since a contingent of forces allegedly entered Pulwama Degree College on April 12, which resulted in massive clashes besides injuries to dozens of students.

Meanwhile Inspector General of Police, Syed Mujtaba Geelani appeals parents to restrict their children from indulging into stone pelting. He said police is showing restrain while dealing with the protesting students. He quickly adds that wherever it requires police will act tough.
