Srinagar, Nov 3 : Member of Parliament from Srinagar Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Tuesday tendered his resignation from the membership of Lok Sabha.

In a letter to the Speaker, Lok Sabha, with Ref No. 1305/MP/SGR/2026 dated 03/11/2026, Ruhullah wrote: “In exercise of the right conferred by Article 101(3)(b) of the Constitution of India, and in terms of Rule 240 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha, I hereby resign my seat as the Member of Parliament representing the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency of Jammu and Kashmir in the Eighteenth Lok Sabha, with immediate effect. This resignation is voluntary and genuine, and is tendered of my own free will. I request that it be accepted.”

Pertinently, Ruhullah earlier in the day had also resigned from National Conference in a letter addressed to party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, saying NC had abdicated the struggle for rights for mere governmentality after 2019 abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.

He had announced his resignation during a rally at Budgam on the martyrdom anniversary of his father late Aga Syed Mehdi.(GNS)
