Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday organized an anti-drug awareness rally in the Chanapora area of the city, urging people to work collectively towards building a drug-free society.

The rally, held in Ward 31, was led by Ward Officer Mukhtar Khan and witnessed participation from corporation employees as well as local residents.

Carrying placards and raising slogans such as “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” participants marched through the locality to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the need for preventive action at the community level.

The program aimed to sensitize people, particularly youth, about the social and health risks associated with drug use and to encourage public involvement in combating the menace.

Mukhtar Khan said such outreach initiatives are part of ongoing efforts by the civic body to address rising concerns over drug abuse and promote healthier lifestyles.

Participants emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in tackling the issue and called for sustained awareness campaigns to reach a wider section of society.

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation said it will continue to organize similar activities across different wards to strengthen awareness and community engagement against drug abuse. [KNT]
