Several FPF Employees Arrested for ‘Involvement’ in Timber Smuggling in Handwara

Handwara: Several Forest Protection Forces have been arrested for their ‘involvement’ in timber smuggling bid in Dedikote forest area in Villgam Handwara, official sources said.

They told GNS that upon specific inputs a police party raided the specified forest area, during which several forest protection force employees were found in connivance with the timber smugglers this evening.

All the involved employees were arrested on the spot, they said.

However the actual number of arrested employees could not be ascertained immediately.

When contacted, a senior police officer told GNS that “appropriate action is being taken against them.” (GNS)
