Pulwama: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have booked an LPG distributor and seized 80 gas cylinders in a case involving alleged illegal decanting of domestic gas into commercial cylinders, officials said on Tuesday.
The action was initiated after Police Station Kakapora received specific inputs that a distributor, identified as Firdous Ahmad Dar, a resident of Hajibal, was engaged in transferring LPG from domestic cylinders into commercial ones to earn undue profits.
According to police, the activity was being carried out in violation of established norms and posed serious risks to public safety, including the potential for accidents during unauthorized gas transfer.
Following the inputs, a case under FIR No. 34/26 was registered at Police Station Kakapora under relevant provisions of law, and an investigation was launched.
During the course of the investigation, a police team seized a total of 80 LPG cylinders linked to the operation. The seized stock included 35 domestic cylinders and 45 commercial cylinders, officials said.
Police said the seizure is part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful trade practices and ensure adherence to safety regulations in the handling and distribution of LPG.
Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the operation and identify any additional individuals involved in the alleged illegal activity. rights. [KNT]
