Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday attached two properties belonging to an accused in a Pakistan-backed terror conspiracy case linked to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a handout to GNS, the NIA said that the action was taken against Shaheen Ahmad Lone, who was involved in smuggling arms, ammunition, and explosives from Pakistan across the Line of Control. The agency said the weapons and explosives were supplied to operatives of HM and LeT for carrying out terror activities in the Kashmir Valley.
Investigations also found Lone actively involved in receiving and transferring funds to terrorists. He was arrested in September 2020 and chargesheeted in March 2021 under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. His trial is ongoing in case RC-01/2020/NIA/JMU before the NIA Special Court in Jammu.
The two properties, located in Kanispora village of Baramulla district, were attached under Section 33(1) of the UA(P) Act following orders from the NIA Special Court, Jammu. They include a residential house built on 7.5 marlas of land and a 6-marla plot with a shed constructed on it, reads the statement.(GNS)
