Srinagar: National Conference on Wednesday strongly condemned killing of 21 people and injuring scores of others in the incidents of riots in parts of Delhi, urging the union government to restore law and order situation and not let anyone orchestrate flagrations and disturb the communal amity.
While expressing concern over the incidents of riots and the loss of property and lives as a consequence of riots and arson Party’s Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “It is heart wrenching to see so many precious lives being devoured in the violence. The incident of loot, arson and killings are distressing. Here what has come out as shock is that Delhi police has so far been complicit to contain the riots,” adding, “GOI must take urgent measures to control the frenzy, and extra forces should be deployed to protect the property and lives of people. Peace committees should be constituted in every district especially in the areas benighted by the communal riots. I on behalf my party express solidarity with the families who have lost their loved ones in the frenzy, the GOI is duty bound to bridge the rift, rebuild, and console the distressed.”
Imran said at a time when it is required having government pacify the masses they are more interested in shifting the blame. “It is expected of government to speak up and help assuage the situation. So far no one from the government has come out with positive messages. This is not the time for blame game instead everybody irrespective of the party affiliations must appeal for peace,” he said.
He also expressed unison with the journrnalists and scribes who have come in the line of fire covering the situation. “GOI is duty bound to recompense the losses to affected. The injured should be given best of medical aid. I pray for early return of peace and tranquility to the turbulence hit areas. Media also as an important role to play here, it should help bridge the rift. The civil society groups should also join the efforts of peacemaking,” he said.
Meanwhile party’s Member of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives and property in the incident of riots, loot and arson. He also expressed solidarity with the affected families, seeking a comprehensive package to rebuild the infrastructure. He also sought effective medical support to the injured.
