Srinagar: Day temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir continued to remain significantly above normal on Tuesday, with several stations in Kashmir Division recording departures of around 9 to 11 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages.
According to compiled data by ‘Kashmir Weather’, Srinagar recorded a maximum of 21.0°C, which is 10.0°C above normal. Qazigund registered 21.2°C, 11.1°C above average, while Pahalgam recorded 17.6°C, 10.1°C above normal.
Kupwara recorded 20.4°C, Kokernag 18.4°C, and Gulmarg 11.2°C, all registering departures close to or above 9 degrees Celsius from the average.
In the Jammu Division, Jammu recorded 25.3°C, 3.0°C above normal. Banihal reported 21.4°C, Batote 19.9°C, Bhaderwah 18.2°C, and Katra 24.5°C, all witnessing above-normal day temperatures.
In the Ladakh region, Leh and Kargil both recorded 7.0°C, while Nubra Valley reported a maximum of 10.1°C.
The sharp rise in maximum temperatures has resulted in early spring-like conditions across much of the Union Territory, particularly in the Valley, where February usually witnesses cooler daytime conditions. [KNT]
