Srinagar: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Wednesday said that Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er Rashid, is scheduled to be released on interim bail on Wednesday to enable him to attend the Chahlum of his late father.
AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the interim bail has been granted in accordance with earlier directions of the High Court and would allow Er Rashid to participate in the 40th-day religious observance of his father, the late Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.
According to the party, Er Rashid is expected to arrive in Srinagar on Thursday morning following his release.
The spokesperson said the Chahlum would be observed in accordance with religious traditions and that the Baramulla MP would join family members, relatives, well-wishers and supporters on the occasion.
Inam Un Nabi further stated that Er Rashid would remain available in Srinagar from Friday afternoon onwards to receive people wishing to offer condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved family.
The AIP spokesperson said the occasion carried particular emotional significance for Er Rashid, who has remained away from his family due to his incarceration.
Er Rashid has been lodged in custody in connection with a case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). [KNT]
