Uri : Developmental works in Uri have taken a serious hit as a lone Block Development Officer has been charged to overlook five blocks in the frontier town of Baramulla district.
A local delegation told that the developmental works are seeing no significant progress as the BDO Boniyar besides dispensing his own charges, has been charged to see four other blocks which include Uri, Paranpillan, Bhijama and Noorkha.
“The particular BDO remains busy every now and then in meetings and gets less time to attend people, bringing the approval of projects, planning and execution of different works literally to a standstill”, the delegation members said.
“The beneficiaries associated with different developmental works most of the times’ have to return empty handed”, they said.
Despite approaching the authorities on multiple occasions, nothing is being done to redress the grievance.
The delegation members have urged Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha for intervention and deploy BDOs at vacant chairs so the people of the specified areas are not made to suffer any more. (GNS)
