Bandipora : District Administration Bandipora in collaboration with Power Development Department Bandipora, NHPC and Government Degree College Bandipora on Thursday organised a day-long seminar to celebrate Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya” week under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsov.
Chairman District Development Council Abdul Gani Bhat, Vice-Chairperson Kounser Shafeeq, DC Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad, and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman DDC Bandipora Abdul Gani Bhat highlighted the achievements of the government in achieving the targets under the programme. He said we have moved a long way in electrifying the remotest villages of the district. He said recently various remote village gets electricity for the first time since independence much to the respite of the people. He said efforts are being made to upgrade the existing power infrastructure besides providing electricity to the un-electrified areas.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais while speaking on the occasion also highlighted the major achievements in power sector and stated that augmentation of power sector including inauguration of Patushai Grid station besides other grid stations gave a major boost to power sector in the district.
He lauded the efforts of the field level workers of PDD who despite challenges work during odd times to ensure uninterrupted power supply. He also urged people to pay electricity dues on time so that the government can provide better power supply to the people. He said improvement of power sector is a continuous process and the system is regularly being updated.
DC said that PDD department has done a tremendous job by providing Electricity to far flung areas where it could not have been otherwise imagined.
Dr Owais said during the week long celebrations, several programmes are being organised to highlight the achievements in the power and renewable energy sectors over the last years to the public and also the vision of India in these sectors for 2047, when the country completes 100 years of Independence. During the programme various cultural events were showcased including nukkad natak, cultural performance, exhibition etc.
