Covid-19: Mortality, positivity of cases up in J&K: 60 fresh deaths, 4788 new cases

Case tally at 211,742, death toll mounts to 2,672, active cases increase to 46,535 recovery rate goes down to 76.76

Srinagar, May 08 : The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Saturday witnessed 60 deaths, highest since the pandemic due to Covid-19 while 4,788 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 46,535.

With 60 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 2,672 and the active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 4,788 fresh positive cases reported on Friday pushed the tally of positive cases to 212,742. The big jumps in the positive cases and the mortality continue to come amid complete lockdown across J&K UT.

Of the exact number of 211,742 cases, 130,480 are from Kashmir division and 81,262 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 4,788 new cases, 3,259 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,529 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 130,480 including 98,560 recoveries and 1,533 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 81,262 including 63,975 recoveries and 1,139 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 46,535 including 30,387 from Kashmir division and 16,148 from Jammu division.

With 2,500 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 162,535 which is 76.76 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 853 from Srinagar, 470 from Baramulla, 444 from Budgam, 325 from Pulwama, 131 from Kupwara, 573 from Anantnag, 83 from Bandipora, 55 from Ganderbal, 237 from Kulgam and 88 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,868 from Jammu division include 634 from Jammu, 181 from Udhampur, 247 from Rajouri, 22 from Doda, 169 from Kathua, 66 from Samba, 23 from Kishtwar, 82 from Poonch, 63 from Ramban and 42 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 60 deaths reported today, 16 died in GMC Jammu, 2 in GMC Rajouri, 2 in GMC Kathua, 02 in GMC Doda, 03 in ASCOMS Jmu, 02 in CD Hosp Jmu, 01 in CH Udhampur, 02 in DH Udhampur, 01 in CHC Nowshera, 01 in DH Kishtwar, 01 in MH Satwari, 01 in SMVDNH, Katra, 10 in Home/ Brought Dead, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 02 in SKIMS Soura, 03 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in CD Hosp Sgr, 03 in DH Pulwama, 01 in DH Kulgam, 01 in JLNM Srinagar, 01 in CHC Kupwara, 02 in DCHC Chanapora & 01 in GMC Anantnag.

As per officials figures, 52,214 positive cases including 602 deaths and 40,661 recoveries are from Srinagar, 15,950 including 211 deaths and 11,759 recoveries are from Baramulla, 13,411 including 1,0115 recoveries and 142 deaths are from Budgam, 8,844 including 6,514 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Pulwama, 8,072 including 106 deaths and 6,488 recoveries are from Kupwara, 9,799 including 6,219 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Anantnag, 6,156 cases including 5,330 and 67 deaths are from Bandipora, 6,144 including 5,217 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Ganderbal, 6,131 including 3,418 recoveries and 71 deaths are from Kulgam and 3,779 including 2,839 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 39,279 including 31,517 recoveries and 636 deaths are from Jammu district, 7,363 including 5,913 recoveries and 74 deaths are from Udhampur, 6,405 including 4,006 recoveries and 90 deaths are from Rajouri, 4,102 including 3,608 recoveries and 71 deaths are from Doda, 5,771 including 4,474 recoveries and 73 deaths are from Kathua, 4,594 including 3,006 recoveries and 68 deaths are from Samba, 3,155 including 2,912 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Kishtwar, 3,560 including 2,692 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Poonch, 3,153 including 2,538 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Ramban and 3,880 including 3,309 recoveries and 20 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,896,171 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 86,787 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 46,535 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,633,987 persons have completed surveillance period and 126,190 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 7,604,448 samples are available. Out of 7,604,448 the number of samples tested negative stands at 7,392,706 while as 211,742 have tested positive, among them 46,535 persons are active, 162,535 persons have recovered and 2,672 persons have died—(KNO)
