SRINAGAR: Clashes erupted between the security forces and protesters in Sopore town of Baramulla district after congregational Friday prayers today.

Reports said that protesters tried to march from Jamia Masjid area to main Chowk shouting pro-freedom slogans; however security forces deployed in the town stopped them.

Reports added that as the protesters were stopped by the forces they resort to stone pelting which was retaliated with tear smoke shells. However no reports of injuries reported in the clash.

The Friday prayers were held at old Jamai Masjid Sopore.
