Srinagar: The body of a teenage boy who drowned in the Jhelum River near Batwara area of Srinagar while bathing was retrieved on Friday by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Officials said the deceased has been identified as Aadil Ahmad, a resident of Batwara. He had gone for a swim in the river earlier this week but tragically went missing after he was swept away by the current.
Soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched by the SDRF’s Quick Response Team (QRT) Jhelum, assisted by local volunteers. After an intense search, the team succeeded in recovering the body from the river.
