BANDIPORA, APRIL 30: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Friday visited Bandipora district to take stock of Covid mitigation efforts and the modalities that need to be put in place to tackle the pandemic.
Interacted with Religious leaders, Traders and Transporters of District Bandipora.
Advisor Khan while interacting with the Religious leaders, Traders, Transporters and other delegations urged to follow the SOPs and guidelines in letter and spirit to save lives by breaking the chain of the virus. He sought cooperation from the religious heads, PRI members, transporters, business community and civil society members to use their influence to motivate people to follow guidelines so that the lives are saved. He said with the cooperation of the people the first wave of COVID19 was successfully contained last year and hoped that the people will not lower the guard and continue to take precautions to defeat the 2nd wave of the pandemic.
The Advisor said that the resources and time are still on our side. The Union Territory of J&K has enough resources to tackle any eventuality. There is no dearth of Vaccines, drugs or Oxygen. New consignment of 1.25 cr vaccines is arriving. However, we can’t afford to lower the guard. This is the time to join hands with district administration to fight against the virus.
Advisor later undertook a detailed review of the Corona mitigation efforts being taken by the district wherein a detailed PPT was presented by DC Bandipora detailing therein various COVID containment measures taken by the district administration. The Advisor was informed that 600 beds have been specified for COVID patients besides 14 ICUs are available in the district. Regarding the vaccination process, he was told that 69 vaccination sites are functional in the district and more than 2000 samples are collected on daily basis for testing purpose. 1000 LPM capacity oxygen plant is also functional at DH Bandipora besides having bulk quantity of oxygen cylinders available in the district at different locations.
It was further given out that COVID restrictions are being fully implemented on ground besides COVID appropriate behavior is being exhibited by the masses.
While appreciating the efforts of district admin, the Advisor emphasized on the officers to further take all necessary measures for effective containment of COVID19 in the district. He called for preparing an actionable plan to address any medical exigency.
Khan impressed upon the officers to implement the COVID guidelines in letter and spirit while ensuring that basic services like food, water, medicine etc are provided to the people uninterruptedly.
Advisor directed the officers to ensure that all target groups where chances of virus exposure are more should get vaccinated on priority.
Khan stressed for augmenting and readying the health infrastructure, besides preparing a meticulous and actionable plan to address any medical exigency. He asked the District administration to have resources assessment done in terms of infrastructure, Oxygen availability, bed capacity, ventilators and man power and bed capacity and other infrastructure to be ready for any spike in COVID positive cases.
The Advisor directed the Deputy Commissioner to conceptualize plans for efficient vaccination, management of containment zones, movement of people, food and supplies, medicine, emergencies, avenues of wages and other aspects that need prime focus at this stage. He directed them to have mobile supply vans ready to suffice to the needs of people at their door steps in the containment zones.
The Delegations of Religious leaders, Traders and Transporters assured the Advisor their full support on account of the efforts being put by the administration. Speaking on the occasion their representatives applauded the efforts of government and said that social distancing, putting a mask and getting vaccinated holds the key to eradication of the virus and they shall extend every support to ensure people follow the SOPs.
