GANDERBAL:-Armed Forces Veterans Day is observed on January 14 every year, since 2017. It is celebrated to honour the sacrifice of our veterans in serving the nation. This year, the nation is celebrating the 7th Armed Forces Veterans Day. Armed Forces Veterans Day recognises the services rendered by Field Marshal KM Cariappa OBE, the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces. He retired on January 14 in 1953.
On the occasion, Wusan Battalion organised a program in honour of the Veterans of the armed forces. Veterans in the battalions area were invited for the event.
A cultural program was presented by the students of AGS, Margund in reverence and recognition of the services of the Armed Forces Veterans.
Chief guest Abid Iqbal Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Commandant, 34 Assam Rifles felicitated the veterans in recognition of their sacrifices and services for the nation.
Naib Subedar Mohammad Safi, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, gallantry award winner, retired from Ladakh Scouts in 1998 was also felicitated on the occasion for his incredible services towards the nation.
The event ended with singing of National Anthem and chanting of bharat mata ki jai.
