Amid Covid-19 surge, Central University holds exams in Ganderbal, Students anxious

Srinagar: At the time when government closed schools and colleges for physical education, universities postpone exams and closed campus  as a precautionary measures in view of rise in covid19 cases, the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) at Ganderbal is holding examination for different subjects.

Students of CUK told Kashmir Patriot that they are undergoing exams in Commerce & English subjects amid growing corona virus threats. They said that they are apprehensive due to current Covid situation as some positive cases were also reported in the varsity recently.

The students said that they have requested CUK administration either postpone exams or go for online examinations in pending subjects, but nothing at the avail.

On condition of anonymity, students said, ” The hostel of the varsity is also functional. One of the staff member tested positive yesterday. The university administration is not taking Covid-19 situation seriously”. Parents of the anxious students told Kashmir Patriot that the Varsity administration continued to conduct exams even after the safety concerns were raised before them.

Several distressed students made frantic calls for their safety and demanded that the matter be looked into seriously. Despite several attempts Dean of Management Studies and Commerce could not be contacted. The registrar of the varsity was also not available for comments.

Despite several message to the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Krirrika Jyotsna  did not respond to the query. The distressed students of CUK have appealed to the Lt. governor administration to look into the matter to ensure the safety of students.
